1 Strengthening international humanitarian law
1.1 Strengthening legal protection for victims of armed conflicts
Proposed Evaluation Criteria :
Activities on international humanitarian law undertaken between 2012 and 2015 include a gender perspective, as relevant.
Pledge text :
Armed conflicts have profoundly different impact on women, girls, boys and men. Both sexes suffer the harsh consequences of violence and are victimized by war. However experience shows that women and men are affected by armed conflicts in fundamentally different ways. Women, girls, men and boys have distinct and diverse strengths, interests, needs and capacities which should be equally valued and inform effective humanitarian work. The integration of a gender perspective is a necessity to reach all parts of the population and to ensure sustainable response initiatives and will contribute to the effectiveness of international humanitarian law and strengthen the protection of individuals during times of armed conflicts.
