Proposed Evaluation Criteria : The UK, with appropriate support from the British Red Cross, provides relevant input into the process of strengthening legal protection for the victims of armed conflicts in the following areas: (1) persons deprived with their liberty; (2) ensuring greater compliance with international humanitarian law.
In implementing the above criterion, the UK and the British Red Cross give primary consideration to the need to reaffirm or clarify existing laws and mechanisms, as well as, so far as deemed necessary, consider their development.
The UK, with appropriate support from the British Red Cross, works towards effective implementation of the 4-Year Action Plan.


Pledge text : Joint pledge between the United Kingdom and the British Red Cross Society

With relevant support from the British Red Cross Society, the United Kingdom will contribute, so far as appropriate, to the process of strengthening legal protection for the victims of armed conflicts, in particular in relation to persons deprived of their liberty and to ensuring greater compliance with international humanitarian law.
The UK, with appropriate support from the British Red Cross, will also work to give effect to the 4-Year Action Plan for the Implementation of IHL.
