- Act on Foreigners and relevant legislation was reviewed and changes implemented

- Processing time in the asylum procedure was reduced and access to legal aid for asylum seekers improved at 1st administrative level

- Ratification or accession of the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons and/or the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness.


Pledge text : We commit to jointly identifying any legal, administrative or factual obstacles which prevent vulnerable migrants from accessing the support, help and protection they need in order to ensure their safety, wellbeing and dignity. We will seek to jointly explore effective ways to remove these barriers. Icelandic authorities will, in particular, place special emphasis on the following areas/activities:
1) Review the current framework related to the Act on Foreigners and relevant legislation with humanity as a guiding principle.

2) Special consideration will be given to the situation of vulnerable migrants, particularly those in forces and/or violent relationships.
3) Further improve the overall situation of asylum seekers, including access to an efficient status determination procedure.
