2 Strengthening local humanitarian action
Section :
Proposed Evaluation Criteria :
Korean Red Cross has a pool of volunteers with full diversity by age, gender and race, who can organize participatory community-based programs to reduce the vulnerability of their own community.
Separated family members are reunited on regular basis through various forms of meetings including face-to-face meeting, video meeting and exchange of mails.
More strengthened and specified provisions regulating emblem usage are included in the Korean Red cross Incorporation Law.
Migrants to Korea, especially women migrants by marriage and other migrants can have access to various social inclusion programs provided by the Korean Red Cross such as pre-immigration briefing, counselling and vocational training, etc.
Pledge text :
As migrant to Korea has significantly increased over the last ten years and as cultural, linguistic and traditional homogeneity is strong, social inclusion for migrants is a priority. Fundraising through partnerships with government, the corporate sector and other sources is essential for sustainable resource mobilization. The Korean government will increase its ODA fund to 0.15% of GNI by 2015.
The RC humanitarian diplomacy for IHL promotion, disaster risk reduction and resource mobilization is vital so the Korean Red cross can further improve and strengthen its role and responsibility in these areas. The volatile political environment on the Korean peninsular has not been conducive for the KRC to accomplish reunions of the separated family members of the two Koreas.
